About Us
Our Story
The Khmer Krom Community was established on April 25, 2016, by the will of the Khmer Krom Association of Iowa.
Khmer Krom Iowa Association is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3), providing mentoring, facilities and services to meet the spiritual, social and education needs of the Khmer Krom population of Iowa, and the surrounding states.
Our facilities will include an educational, administrative center, meditation center and a Buddhist temple. We will make our facilities available to other social service organizations, as well as medical and legal outreach services.
Services we plan to provide will include outreach services to the community, prevention and intervention for youth, opportunities for immunizations and screenings, educational services for new citizens, remediation and tutoring for students for whom English is not their primary language, health and nutritional education. We will also offer translation services, assistance to the elderly and infirm.
Our temple will be overseen by a Theravada Buddhist monk, who will provide spiritual guidance and education.
